Nasi bakar means "grilled rice" in Indonesian. Rice is cooked with spices and aromatic herbs, wrapped in banana leaf and grilled. The leaf acts as a natural cooking vessel and gives the rice a gentle, smoky aroma that you can smell the moment you unwrap it.
It is the heart of what we do at Bara. We opened in 2019 to show that Indonesian food is more than ayam penyet and nasi padang, and nasi bakar is where we start.
